Spectrum of friends
Well I have friends who:
One day will be the sweetest... but the next will beat me up...
One day will talk to me forever... but the next will not even call...
One day send a hundred SMSs to see what I am up to... but the next not even one...
One day be patient with me... but the next can't wait to strangle me...
One day give me a huge hug... but the next beat me up...
One day I let them down... the next day they still wait with open arms...
One day chat with me for hours... but the next be extremely busy...
One day we get off on the wrong foot... but the next we will still start with a clean slate...
One day call me names... but the next claim they don't call people nicks...
One day be really understanding... but the next totally thick skulled...
One day will be all normal... but the next will really surprise me...
One day will feed me... but the next day will choke me...
You know what... that's only the partial description of just one friend! Imagine the whole spectrum!

Orkut
I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with Orkut but it's a pretty neat networking tool. Of course there are a lot of nutcases out there who don't put a picture of themselves up and expect us to notice them with just a name and description! Wake up people. Sometimes all we remember about you is how you look!
Anyway I am putting this here to let people know about this place, I myself only discovered it a couple of weeks back. Thing is you can't get on there without an invite and in case you are interested to join let me know and I can invite you! In case you are already there and not on my network then look for Amit Jayakaran!

My first stay at a hospital
No, I am still alive. Just that I have been too sick to write anything great in the blog for a while. Came down with typhoid. Yeah I made one mistake of drinking water somewhere where I shouldn't have!
Well technically this was my second stay at a hospital, but I think being born in a hospital doesn't really count as a visit, right?
Well last week I was finally feeling good and just went to the doctor to tell her that and she tells me that I still had temperature and that I had to be admitted. Yeah I freaked out! Anyways I ended up staying at the hospital for a week. Wasn't that bad. They took good care of me. Of course I learned a couple of things.
One morning I got up shivering as I was feeling real cold. Called the nurse and turned out I had temperature. So she consults with some doctor and next thing I know I had an injection in my butt. Oh that was the last time I told them I was feeling cold!
The attached toilet was another story. The sink had the option of cold and hot water. Believe it or not they were swapped. Now why would they want to mess with people who are already sick? Is it some evil plan to make us feel real confused about ourselves? Funny thing is that I didn't even realize this for three days! Man I was sick!!!
Then came the shower. So I use general logic and assume cold is hot and hot is cold. But they are creative... They had two cold taps. Now I am already sick. So I really can't afford to experiment. Life...
Hospitals love making holes in your body. They decided to put me on an IV. They poked me twice with two big needles to put them in! So basically I was attached to a bottle hanging for a pole. I had two doctors. One the senior one. And then the jester doctor. Believe me I always laughed when he left the room! The jester doctor kept coming from day one offering to turn off the IV. It was like he was my yes man! Even the nurses laughed at him. I hated the IV because for some reason the liquid inside it was real cold and made my hand feel like it was frozen! It was like sticking my hand in an ice bucket!
Oh once I had real high temperature and so told the nurse to get me another blanket to cover myself as I was feeling cold. This was before the injection in the butt. She tells me that the only way for me to let the temperature drop was to take the blanket off and she tried pulling it off. As sick as I was I scolded her and pulled my blanket back and told her if she took it I would die! Boy, did she back of after that! Yeah but then she had to give me an injection later that day and I think she went out of her way to make it painful!
Hospital stay is boring. All you can do is watch movies! Of course I got a chance to read a lot of Calvin and Hobbes while I was there. Lots of books that I hadn't had a chance to catch up with! Initially the nurses were pretty impressed with me. I had taken a private room and practically never had anyone to help me out in my room. Then one day one of them saw the Calvin and Hobbes by my bed and was like you are reading comics! I think word got around pretty fast about me reading comics! Hey I can't help it if people don't have good taste in books!
Did you know that they had a uniform for people who were admitted in the hospital? I never really wore their uniform and was glad I didn't because one day they decided to give me a pink stripped set. WHY???
What made the stay at the hospital worth it was people who sent me SMSes or called. It was real nice to see people who are always looking in some way or the other to pull my leg calling with concerned voices wondering if I was okay! Some people were really freaked out when they heard I was in the hospital. SMSes were fun. It's nice when people take a moment out to just send a word out to you to let you know they care! Oh how can I forget my poor brother who had to come in a couple of times everyday to check up on me. He had it tough while I was in the hospital.
Okay I am now bored. I am sitting at home all recovered but with no energy. I am ordered complete bed rest and so I can't move out! And I am tired of reruns! Believe it or not I can't wait to get back to work!

So does time change everything?
Well the doc decided to hospitalize me! She said something about intravenous and all. So basically I have an IV in one hand so only one hand is any good for typing! So this will be short!
Topic really doesn't have so much to do with my sickness. Rather has to do with the way I've seen things change... I guess I mention it here because I just felt it weird. I had a friend who once did not want me to be late for my first day of work and so called the guesthouse I was staying in when I first moved to Bangalore. She called so early that she woke up everyone. Even though it was annoying it meant so much to me! However now when I am sick, she didn't even mail or SMS or call for a whole week. I guess things change. People move on, and don’t have time for you anymore, however much we want them to! Life...

With a little help from my friends
Well as many of you know I am stuck in bed with high fever and a really bad head ache! You have no idea what it feels like to have a head ache for six day continuously! But there is a bright side to it all. My friends!
I've had people who rarely call me, now calling me on a daily basis to find out how I am. There is this one person ensuring that I am taking complete rest. And if she ever finds out I typed this am sure she will kill me for stressing out by using the computer! She forces me to disconnect if she sees me online! So am keeping this short!
Thanks guys for looking out for me!!! You are the best!

My Microwave
Well I am real sick. I have had a continuous headache for the last 4 days continuously and fever for three days. Doc thinks its either the flu or typhoid. Will only find out tomorrow.
Well to date whenever I used the microwave I used to heat stuff up, wait till it got done, pulled it out, consumed it and rushed out.
Well I am at home now and so I really have no hurry. So I put the stuff in the microwave. Heat it up for two minutes and go to pick it up about five minutes later and see it is cold! So I repeat and same thing happens after seven minutes! Now I am real hungry so I wait next to the microwave for two minutes and then catch it in action!
Turns out that as soon as the microwave is done heating up it enters a cool down mode without any time gap and won't stop the cool down till it feels the chamber is absolutely cold! Smart designers! As soon as I pull out what I was heating it stopped the cool down! Amazing isn't it? Do you think they are tied up with the electricity board?

28 Indians in a bus
Well on the 1st a couple of us from office were supposed to go on a field visit. We were going to see a wind turbine! Well we were supposed to leave at 4 so we can get to the place in time but that got vetoed and so we decided to leave at about 5. Well they had to pick up different people from different points. I was supposed to be pickup up from my stop at 5:30.
Well the day you need your alarm the most it doesn't work! I get up to the sound of an alarm and I check the time and its 5:25!!! 5 minutes before my bus arrives and I have just got out of bed! Takes me good ten minutes to get to the place where my bus would pick me up. Anyway I call up the guy coordinating and he doesn't sound like he has even left! Well so I hurry and dress up. I had a shower the previous night just before going to bed and so that helped, time wise.
So I leave my house at about 5:40 start walking and realize that I don't have my camera. What's the point going without a camera! Well I head back and got it. I then rushed to the to the bus stop. I made it in 5 minutes! I then waited and there was no sign of the bus! Call the guys up and they claim they are on their way. Finally in about 10 minutes the bus arrives. But then there was another guy who was supposed to get into the bus from my stop and hadn't arrived! So we waited till 6:15! We leave again and then had to wait at the next stop for another 15 minutes! Basically we waited for almost everyone for at least 5-10 minutes. We finally picked up everyone by 7:30 AM. The planned time was 6:00 AM! Then we stopped to have breakfast. Then we stopped to have lunch! Then we waited for someone to pick us up and take us to the site! Returned home about 1:00 AM. Planned latest time was 11:00PM.
